  1. THIS README FILE CONTAINS THE LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR CD MATCH
  2. ALONG WITH LOADING INSTRUCTION FOR WINDOWS 3.1x & WINDOWS 95

  8. This is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or an      
  9. entity) and Horizons Technology, Inc. (HTI).  Only if you accept       
  10. the terms of this agreement are you granted a license to run this      
  11. Interactive Multimedia AssociationÆs (IMA) CD MATCH (tm) PROGRAM.      
  12. By opening the package or downloading the PROGRAM you are agreeing     
  13. to be bound by the terms of this Agreement.  If you do not agree       
  14. to the terms of this Agreement, do not open the package, download      
  15. or use the PROGRAM.

  17. 1.  GRANT OF LICENSE.  You may use this PROGRAM to determine the       
  18. capabilities of your computer and applicability of other software      
  19. packages to your computer.  You may freely copy or electronically      
  20. transmit this PROGRAM to others as long as: A) the copies are not      
  21. altered in any fashion; B) HTI's copyright notice is included; C)      
  22. this License Agreement is distributed with each copy; and D) all       
  23. users of the copies agree to abide by the terms of this License        
  24. Agreement.

  26. 2.  RESTRICTIONS.  You may not lease or sell the PROGRAM in whole      
  27. or in part, or use it to operate a service bureau.  You may not        
  28. reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to      
  29. discover the source or structural framework of the licensed            
  30. material in this PROGRAM.  The data generated by this PROGRAM may      
  31. not be combined with similar data from other machines without          
  32. HTI's prior written permission.

  34. 3.  COPYRIGHT.  The PROGRAM is owned by HTI or its suppliers.  It      
  35. contains copyrighted material and is protected by United States        
  36. and international copyright laws.

  38. 4.  TERMINATION.  This License Agreement is effective until            
  39. terminated.  HTI may terminate this Agreement by requesting            
  40. return of the PROGRAM.  You may terminate this Agreement by            
  41. destroying all copies of the PROGRAM or returning it to HTI.           
  42. This License Agreement shall terminate automatically upon your         
  43. breach of any obligation herein.

  45. 5.  WARRANTIES AND LIABILITIES.  To the maximum extent permitted       
  46. by law: A) the PROGRAM is provided "as is" without warranty of 
  47. any kind; B) HTI and its suppliers disclaim all warranties,            
  48. either express or implied, including, but not limited to implied 
  49. warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular             
  50. purpose, with regard to the PROGRAM; C) the entire risk arising        
  51. out of the use or performance of the PROGRAM and any copy remains      
  52. with the end user; and D) in no event shall HTI or its suppliers       
  53. be liable for any damages whatsoever (including without 
  54. limitation, damages for loss of business profits, business             
  55. interruption, loss of business information, or any other               
  56. pecuniary loss) arising out of or related to the use of the            
  57. PROGRAM, even if HTI has been advised of the possibility of such       
  58. damages.

  60. 6. GOVERNING LAW.  This License Agreement is governed by the       
  61. laws of the State of California.                                   
  62.

  67. The Interactive Multimedia Association's CD MATCH program probes  
  68. your computer system to determine and then display your computer's     
  69. available resources.  The results can then be compared with the 
  70. Uniform Label appearing on software boxes to help you establish        
  71. whether new software will run correctly on your system.

  83. HOW TO RUN CD MATCH:

  86. **Windows CD MATCH instructions**

  88. A single executible supports the following localized versions of
  89. Windows; English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian.  
  90.  
  91. To run CD MATCH under Windows
  92.  
  93. Windows 3.1x -- From the Program Manager, choose FILE-RUN and
  94. enter x:\CDMATCH\CDMATCH where x: represents the CD-ROM drive
  95. that contains CD MATCH files.

  97. Windows 95   -- From the Windows Desktop Taskbar choose 
  98. START-RUN and enter x:\CDMATCH\CDMATCH where x: represents the 
  99. CD-ROM drive that contains the CD MATCH files.
  100.  
  101. Known limitations:
  102. 1.  You may encounter screen refresh and desktop painting problems 
  103.     with Orchid Fahrenheit 1280 video cards with a Video Bios 
  104.     earlier than 3.0.  CD MATCH is compatible with Video Bios
  105.     version 3.0 and version 7.0 drivers.
  106. 2.  If you have a ProAudio Spectrum 16 board installed under a
  107.     Windows 95, CD MATCH will rate your system as having 8 bit sound
  108.     if the board's DMA is set to 1 or 3, because Windows 95 reserves
  109.     these interrupts for 8 bit sound. If the board is set to
  110.     interrupts 5, 6 or 7, CD MATCH will identify the board as a 16
  111.     bit board.
